For the tenth Record Stores of the World it was time to venture into the deep south of the United States and see what Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama had to offer. It's meant a journey down Highway 61 in torrential rain, hanging out in New Orleans and finding some of the best record stores to date in regional Alabama.
Los Angeles is the first stop of a series of USA cities that will feature on the next few editions of Record Stores of the World. From the excessive to the mmall and the strange, LA has every sort of record store.
For the first edition of Record Stores Of The World for 2019 I headed across the Tasman for a quick visit to see what the North Island of New Zealand had to offer. Taking in the cities of Auckland and Wellington alongside smaller stops in Hamilton, New Plymoth, Taupo and Raglan.
It's 11am on a Saturday and Berlin is just waking up, you can pretty much find whatever you need in this city so my first mission is finding decent coffee, which is not always an easy task in this country, luckily with some local help, I find a pretty good one, the Turkish breakfast that followed was a little more questionable. Food and coffee aside, I'm on my way to finding the first of the German capital's vast array of record shops with a mission in Kreuzberg. Holy's Hit Records First up I find the fantastically named Holy's Hit Records...
When I'm in the UK I always try and make an effort to make my way up to the north of the country and in particular to Manchester, it is a city with an amazining musical heritage and also home to plenty of great record stores.
