To celebrate their 30th anniversary as a band recently, Tumbleweed released an epic 12 x 7″ singles box set featuring the biggest singles from the band’s classic line up. The limited-edition box set sold out almost immediately, so the band got to work compiling a singles collection to be housed on one disc and the result is ‘Killer Weed’ to be released on March 24th via Farmer & The Owl/BMG.
Kicking off with their very raw debut ‘Stoned’ the eleven track compilation highlights plenty of favourites from their 90’s output including ARIA Top 40 single ‘Sundial’ and Triple J Hottest 100 placing tracks ‘Daddy Longlegs’, ‘Silver Lizard’ and ‘Hang Around’.
A mainstay of the Australian live circuit and festival scene of the 90’s where they delivered iconic sets on stages such as the Big Day Out, Homebake and Livid, Tumbleweed released the highly regarded albums ‘Tumbleweed’ and ‘Galactaphonic’ as well as a string of EP’s and singles with the classic line up of Richie Lewis (Vocals), Paul Hausmeister (Guitar), Lenny Curley (Guitar), Jay Curley (Bass) and Steve O’Brien (Drums). A a line-up change followed and saw them release two more albums ‘Return To Earth’ & ‘Mumbo Jumbo’ before going on hiatus. In 2009 the classic line up reformed for a series of festival shows, and they returned to the studio to record their fifth album ‘Sounds From The Other Side’.
Following the passing of bass player Jay Curley in 2014, Tumbleweed took some time off before returning with long time friend Jamie Cleaves on bass where they recorded some new singles and once again resumed playing live.
