When We Were Young / Patchouli Girl
Tumbleweed is set to return with new music this November and will back it up with a run of shows in support of the release. The single ‘When We Were Young’ will be backed with their other most recent single Patchouli Girl and released as a limited 7” vinyl on November 29th, with the band playing shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane across December and January to launch it.
The track was recorded in the same sessions as ‘Patchouli Girl’ that was released in 2022 and has been held for release until the band were ready to tour once more. Produced by Rob Younger, vocalist Richie Lewis says of the sessions “I was always a big fan of Rob Younger’s work as a singer and as a producer and always wanted to work with him, when we had the idea to record a string of 45’s, we really wanted Rob to produce, considering he was responsible for producing most of our favourite Australian singles. We live in the same town, we have shared band members and crossed paths for the past 25 years but we have never worked together.”
While ‘Patchouli Girl’ tapped into the bands gentler pop orientated side, ‘When We Were Young’ picks it up a notch with Tumbleweed’s garage/punk influence coming to the forefront and is sure to be a live favourite at the forthcoming shows.
