It’s already that time of year again when Record Store Day is announced, this year it is happening on Saturday April 18th. The first lists have just dropped and as usual there are some tasty releases on there (alongside of a few where you ask the question why?). As usually we’ll get as many RSD exclusive releases as possible and doors will be open from 9am for your chance to grab them. We should also have some live performances on the day in the afternoon and pending everything going to plan logistically, we may have a special release, more details on that soon.
The after party for Record Store Day is sorted if you are a fan of heavy music, with Canberra doom legends Pod People making a long overdue return to Wollongong to play at La La La’s that night. I believe it is the first time they are back in Wollongong since they supported Electric Wizard on their Australian tour back in the mid 2000’s when thy played an epic show at the Oxford Tavern. A couple of years back we reissued their album Doom Saloon via High Beam and we still have a few copies in store if you missed it, hit on the link below.
And another reminder that Sultans Of Spin monthly record club is this Sunday February 8th at La La La’s. February’s record is the Nirvana classic Nevermind with Wellness Coach and myself spinning influences and contemporaries either side of the play through. We’ll lso have a curated crate of records from the shop for sale.
