Gong Crawl returns next month and we’ll be hosting some bands here at Music Farmers, alongside many other venues around town. The line up is huge and it is totally free!

Crown Street Militia launch their latest release Heavy Metal II at La La La’s on Saturday night. Blending classic thrash metal, with sludge and doom elements, the four piece have risen to become one of the premier heavy bands not just locally, but in the country. You can grab their record in store now here.
I thought to round out this week’s column I’d highlight a few recent personal vinyl purchases. The first one is the latest compilation from the Habibi Funk label, Beirut City Pop, a compilation that brings together ten tracks from Lebanon's private press cassette scene of the late 1970s and 1980s, when short-lived bands and studio projects moved freely between disco, pop, soul, jazz, bossa, rock and AOR. Well compiled and highly recommended. Next up is the I See Seaweed reissue from The Drones, the band recently played here for Yours & Owls Festival and they have finally put their great 2013 album back in print. Limited copies are in store now. Finally it is an unexpected reissue from nineties Tasmanian band Sea Scouts, interesting noise rock meets jangle pop meets post punk sort of vibes. I didn’t hear this album at the time, but I remember their tracks on the excellent Au Go Go Records compilation Wonder From A Quarter Acre.
