This year has been a little bit quiet on the release front in the label world, partly being busy with other things but also the landscape has changed a fair bit for labels in recent years. There are still a bunch of things happening before the year is out however, via Farmer & The Owl there will be new music from DCN and Private Wives, while the Silhouette Label will have new music out from Steve Bourk, Blistar and Tropical Strength, while Russell W also rolls out his retrospective collection release. It has been a time to reflect on what labels are currently and their role going forward, which has led me to some new imprints specialising in vinyl. Something I’ve been talking about for some time is moving more into the reissue game and very soon, alongside my friend Adam (A Wollongong local now based in the USA), we’ll be launching Red Ash Records, specialising in Australian and New Zealand music from last century, you can get a head start on the launch by following our Instagram here and there will be more details on that real soon. In the meantime, here is the great logo designed by Luke Player.
This Saturday, La La La’s and Bevanda Bar are hosting Octoberfest in Globe Lane and as part of the fun, they have asked Sultans Of Spin to DJ. Catman and myself are jumping on the decks and we’ve set ourselves the challenge to play all music focused on Germany but extending to artists from greater Europe, we'llbe spinning tunes from 3pm.
