Newcastle post-punk outfit dust releases their debut album this Friday and they are heading to Wollongong on Saturday to launch it at an event that also doubles as the launch for the new issue of Wanderer Magazine. We’ll be there selling copies of the album, or you can order it on-line and pick it up at the event. Every sale helps them on the mission to knock Taylor Swift off the top of the charts. The album is solid, give it a listen if you are a fan of Fontaines DC, Shame and genre forerunners such as Gang Of Four and Wire.
This Friday afternoon I’m jumping on the decks at La La La’s for Afternoon Delight from 5pm til 8pm and I’ve decided to make this set Japanese themed after picking up plenty of releases from Japanese artists on recent trips there. It will be a journey of Japanese music through the years taking on board early psych and garage, the city pop and jazz/groove explosion of the late seventies and early eighties through to some more current examples of sounds from the country.
Yesterday Blistar released a brand new twenty track album via Silhouette Label. Recorded in Stanwell Park by Jez at The Shed, the release envokes a real nineties indie/slacker rock vibe, get over and have a listen now.
The Sultans Of Spin record club returns this Sunday at La La La’s, after kicking it off last month with a Britpop classic from Oasis, this month we move to hip hop/ r&b territory with the Lauryn Hill classic The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. Jeanie will be on the decks before and after spinning adjacent tunes, there are food and drink specials and once again we’ll have a curated pop-up stall happening.
