A look at the artists playing Coalchella 2025 and the Australia Music Prize Shortlist is announced

Jeb Taylor

Coalchella 2025 is next weekend at Coledale RSL (Sunday October 26th) so I thought I’d give you a preview of each artist playing on the day.

Local audiences should be now familiar with Chimers, the duo play a raw mix of post punk and garage rock have supported some of the best bands on the planet in recent years and they are currently gearing up for a tour across the USA, UK and Europe with The Saints, catch them at Coalchella before they head off.

Jess Ribeiro has been making incredibly beautiful music for over a decade, effortlessly making some dark music come across with a bright pop edge. Catch Jess in town for Coalchella.

Bringing the psych infused Afrobeat and Zamrock vibes to the day is Immy Owusu.

Tropical Strength are back at Coalchella with a great album of psychedelic pop released last year and a brand new single set to drop in the lead up to the event.

Step Panther frontman and Hockey Dad live bass player, Steve Bourk released a great full length of indie slacker sounds earlier this year and he’ll be bringing his band along to hit the Coalchella stage.

This year I have once again lucky to be part of the judging panel for the Australian Music Prize, and the shortlist has just been announced. Once again an incredibly strong list of Australian albums, the winner will be announced next month, who are you picking from the list below?

Ninajirachi – I Love My Computer

Floodlights – Underneath
Mudrat – Social Cohesion
Bleak Squad – Strange Love
