A Look ahead at 2025

Jeb Taylor

Happy new year! My final post was a recap of 2024, so I thought with this one I’d look ahead at 2025!

Stock has already started to roll back into the shop racks and Record Store 2025 has just been announced for Saturday April 12th. We look forward to some special happenings around that as well as some other in stores and signings through the year, alongside all the regular new arrivals.

The Silhouette Label launched last year, and we hit the ground running this year with the release of the Steve Bourk solo album at the start of February, along with the debut single from Alara Livingstone real soon. You can pre order Steve’s record now here and there will be more information on Alara’s single real soon. There are also a couple of Silhouette events to announce real soon as well.

The Farmer & The Owl label ticked over to ten years old last year and as we move into the next decade, we look forward to launching the next phase of the label. After soft launch of our distro/label services side of things last month with the single from Cool Jumper, we look forward to fully launching it this year. There is also some new music in the pipeline from a few of our current label stable, as well as some exciting reissues in the works. In the first couple of months of the year, Tumbleweed round out their single tour, Moaning Lisa tour for their album release and Hockey Dad tour both New Zealand and UK/Europe.

I’ve been teasing the Hits From The Gong project for a while and this year I’m going to get it properly launched. It will involve getting historical music from the local area back out into the world, both in digital and vinyl formats. I’d love to hear any suggestions you have of music that should be included, drop me an email jeb@musicfarmeers.com or hit the instagram here.

I have a few more plans for the year ahead as well but I’ll share them as they firm up.
