Ty Segall recently passed through Wollongong as part of an Australian tour, so we got Ty to let us know about some albums that have impacted his life and music.
Your first album. It can be the first record/cd/tape you bought, first album downloaded or just the first album you remember hearing that stuck with you.
The first album that I remember being “mine” was a cassette of abbey road. I listened to that everyday for a long time. The first lp I bought with my own money was songs the lord taught us by the cramps. Life changing.

The album that changed your musical outlook. It can be your most influential, one that led you down a certain path, or had a long-lasting impact on you.
This would have to be Love’s “Forever Changes”. I’m constantly holding other records against forever changes as the gold standard of the “lp” and even after so many years of listening there’s still so much for me to discover in that record.

An album that you love but is not as widely known as it should be.
I feel like all of my friends records should be more widely known! White Fence, Cairo Gang, Primitive Ring…

The record that drew you in with its visuals. It can be the cover art, a press pic of the band that made you take notice...
King Crimson In the court of the Crimson King..

The album you are currently loving the most at the moment.
I’ve been loving Sandy Denny - The North Star Grassman and the Ravens.
