This week Moaning Lisa released their latest single wayside via Farmer & The Owl/BMG. It’s another epic, big sounding shoegaze-ish tune from their next album due later in the year. Described by the band as equal parts Deftones and Avril Lavigne, it also comes with an incredible fan led video clip that you can see below!
Also released in the last week was new music from Totally Unicorn, their first new music since the release of High Spirit Low Life back in 2022. The new single Parrot is another thumping blast of unique punk rock from the band, capturing the live energy that they took to New Zealand earlier this year and are taking on the road in Australia in the coming months.
Recently Richie Weed released his debut album Strays (vinyl coming soon!) and he’s also just put out a clip for the latest single (and probably my favourite track from the album) One Day At A Time. The video was shot in and around the Shed in Stanwell Park where the album was recorded, watch it below!
This Saturday night I’ll be jumping on the decks at La La Las with a bunch of friends from Sultans Of Spin to play party records on the turntables across the night for Spinning Around. Next Sunday June 16th out at the Railway Hall in Thirroul is the winter instalment of the Silhouette Showcase, the label set up by Russ and Jim from Shining Bird that I’ve been helping out with hosts a seasonal event showcasing some label artists along with some up and comers. This event features Tropical Strength launching their new album, Russell W playing solo, Steve Bourke playing tunes from his upcoming album and Penny Church who was discovered by Russ in Bulli High School’s local stories songwriting workshop.
