A couple of new releases out today on opposite ends of the sound spectrum. Local four-piece Crown Street Militia release their brutally heavy EP Heavy Metal II, you can listen to it below and grab the vinyl in store now.
If you are into freak folk/alt country but of the modern variety, check out the new album from This Is Lorelei. It’s one of the best albums I’ve heard this year and feel it could be this MJ Lenderman and Cameron Winter moment. If you’re into both those artists but also some more classic sounds such as Silver Jews, Wilco and Elliott Smith, give this one a listen. Vinyl is available in the shop now.
Rounding out this week’s releases is some pure 90’s nostalgia, a first time on vinyl release of The Simpsons Songs In The Key Of Springfield. Not something I’m probably going to throw on the turntable often but as a kid of the 90’s and a huge Simpsons fan, still a must have for the collection. Featuring favourites from the show such as The Monorail Song and Lisa It’s You’re Birthday, it also has various versions of the opening and closing themes. In sort of related news I’ll be doing an all 90’s vinyl set for Vinyl Voyages at the Heritage Hotel later in the month, so I may get to slip in something from this.
