Beddy Rays are releasing their new album on Friday and will be dropping by the store to play some acoustic songs and sign copies of the record on Saturday. They took some time to take on our Put Your Records On feature.
Your first album. It can be the first record/cd/tape you bought, first album downloaded or just the first album you remember hearing that stuck with you.
Queens Of The Stone Age ‘Songs For The Deaf’ was my earliest memory of music. My dad used to put it on the stereo of his AU Ford Falcon and crank the absolute shit out of it! I still think that album is the reason I’ve loved Rock/Heavy music my whole life.

The album that changed your musical outlook. It can be your most influential, one that led you down a certain path, or had a long-lasting impact on you.
Parkway Drive ‘Killing with a Smile’ was a bit of a gateway drug into the world of metal for me. My brother left this USB stick plugged into my mums little Sony CD player and I decided to give it a whirl. The first song that played was ‘Romance is Dead’ and I had never really heard much metal music before this. I was instantly hooked and it sent me down the path of heavy music to the point that it was the only genre I really listened to for quite some time! My first gig I ever went to was an all ages Parkway Drive gig at the youth centre in Byron Bay!

An album that you love but is not as widely known as it should be.
A standout for me would be ‘Soft Rock For The Anxious’ by The Pretty Littles. Jacko showed me this band back in 2016 and I instantly fell in love with their sound. Parso (their singer) has this Paul Kelly-esque way of painting a picture with his lyrics and that’s what drew me in. All of their albums absolutely slap. Highly underrated band!

The record that drew you in with its visuals. It can be the cover art, a press pic of the band that made you take notice, ect.
It would have to be ‘Dookie’ by Green Day. I just love how chaotic it is and the fact that it’s hand drawn is just awesome. It doesn’t take a genius to work out what inspired our (Beddys) album artwork!

The album you are currently loving the most at the moment.
Fontaines DC ‘Romance’ has been absolutely rinsed on my record player at the moment! I got the record for Chrissy and listening to it on vinyl has upped my appreciation for it tenfold. I was lucky enough to get the special edition pink vinyl which just bloody lights up the room!
