Private Wives are back today with a new single Haymaker released via Farmer & The Owl. Recorded by Jay Whalley, the band describes the single as anthem that embodies the chaotic fight in relationships, where emotions explode like punches in the ring. "Haymaker is a raw, no-holds-barred reflection of the wear and tear that love can put on you, leaving you wondering if it's worth getting back in the ring." The single is the first release from their upcoming debut album and they are heading out to play it live very soon. Have a listen to it below and catch them at the following shows:
JUNE 7 - The Duke of Enmore, Sydney
JUNE 8 - LaLaLa’s, Wollongong
JUNE 15 - Lulie Tavern, Melbourne
JUNE 21 - Husskison Beer & BBQ Fest, Huskissom
JULY 11 - Greaser Bar, Brisbane
This Friday I’ll be doing my first La La La’s Afternoon Delight DJ set for the year. I’m usually playing party hits each weekend at Howlin Wolf (which I still am this weekend as well) but for these La La La’s sets, it is very much the DJ bringing their own flavour. For this set I’ve made it pretty broad, but I feel it all ties in, you’ll hear psychedelic, shoegaze, garage rock, outsider pop, alt country and freak folk sounds. Drop by for an after-work drink from 5pm Friday, soundtracked by some records I don’t get to pull out at DJ spots very often.
Finally, I’ve updated a couple of my playlists, I intend to do these weekly, but sometimes a few weeks slip by. First up my Now Playing playlist features mainly new music I’m listening to, alongside a few older tunes that have re entered my orbit either via reissues or touring. The second one is Hits From The Gong, my new music playlist featuring artists based in or originating from the wider Wollongong area. Established local artists such as Bec Sandridge and Totally Unicorn have new music and sit alongside upcoming artists with fresh tunes such as Sega Jade and Chelsea Daghita.
