Some recent reissues and first time on vinyl releases to highlight

Jeb Taylor

A few reissues/first time on vinyl releases have dropped lately that have been on my want list for some time so I thought I’d highlight some of them here. Starting with the self-titled album from Sweden’s Miike Snow, the electro pop album was originally released in 2009 and featured the huge track Animal. As far as I know their hasn’t been a repress of this since the original release, and if you come across one of those pressing’s they are very expensive. On my last journey to Japan, I did find one, but the $300 price tag held me off, and thankfully it is now available once again, we have it in stock here.

Canberra/Wollongong outfit The Vee Bees have been a mainstay of the live music scene for a couple of decades now, most of their early releases came out in the CD era and were never pressed on vinyl. This includes their great Crack Us Anotha release which has now been issued on vinyl for the first time, a great pressing in a gatefold cover. If you’re a fan of Cosmic Psychos, The Chats, The Onyas, ect. grab yourself a copy here.

Beck introduced himself to the world with his album Mellow Gold when the lead single Loser blew up in the early nineties. The album has not ben available for so long and was recently given a long overdue reissue, we got a few copies in but the flew off the shelves within a day, there will be some more coming so hit the release page and put your details on the wait list here.

The Gin Club were a unique collective of incredible songwriters based in Brisbane through the 2000’s. Their song Drug Flowers featured in my top 100 Australian songs and it was lifted from their 2005 album Fear Of Th Sea. The album had never been available on vinyl before and has finally just been given a vinyl release for its twentieth anniversary. Unfortunately there is no retail release for this one so the only way to get it is via Suitcase Records.
